KSIM student made a concert for children in orphanage
At the beginning of each school year, Year 11 students are required to choose a personal project that they will be working on for the duration of the year. The project is an opportunity to show their talents, interests, maturity and readiness to progress in their education. The MYP personal project is a student-centred and age-appropriate practical exploration in which students consolidate their learning from the programme. This long-term project is designed as an independent learning experience. Our student Barbara, being in love with music and languages, decided to organise a concert for the children at the orphanage. With the help of her friend Aleksa, who accompanied her on the guitar, she performed popular songs in Montenegrin, English and French.
"I decided to do this project as I love music. After graduating from elementary music school, music stayed in my life as a hobby. A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Children's Home in Bijela and, ever since, I wanted to do some kind of a project that would help these kids have a better quality of life. This time, my contribution wasn't in material form (even though our school community has collected lot of donations), but I wanted to make them smile, be happy, and to spend some time with them.
At the beginning, I felt sad and it was difficult for me to sing knowing that these children don't have the opportunity to grow up in a family as me and my peers do, but as the concert moved on and they have started dancing and singing with us, I could see and feel their happiness and love; I have really enjoyed spending time with them!' said Barbara.
